At Mr So's and Interact's invitation, the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service touched down on the back oval at school on Friday 5 May.
Interact had raised $1000 from the chocolate drive and a cheque was handed to the crew of the helicopter on behalf of the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service.
The crew on board explained all about the helicopter specifics ranging from the size of the helicopter, distance it is able to travel on one tank of fuel, the equipment on board including wet suits, headwear, winches etc used for rescues, and the number of callouts that they average a year.
There were questions asked by some of the Interact students and the responses made for an interesting experience for all.
Thank you to everyone involved, particularly the Confectionery Fundraising team – headed by Edward and Abhinav, the Interact members - Aaryan, Tejas and Bryan, all the staff who supported our event, and the Westpac team who took time out of their busy schedules to also visit.
We were glad to make a small contribution to a much-needed service that rescues people and does invaluable work supporting the wider community
We would like to pay our respects and acknowledge the Kameygal and Bediagal People, the traditional custodians of the land on which the school sits. We also pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
