In this unit students study reproduction and the inheritance of characteristics. Genetic information within a species can mutate leading to variation. Students investigate the structure and function of DNA.
3. Search for better health
In this unit students study ways to identify and treat a variety of diseases of humans and other organisms. Increased understanding of diseases and technological advances have changed the treatment and management of diseases.
4. Option: communication
This option focuses on the two senses that are important for many vertebrate and invertebrate animals – sight and hearing. Increased advances in technology assist people to overcome problems in communication.
