Congratulations to our four wonderful Year 10 World History debaters who were victorious late Friday against Roseville College in their elimination round debate for the J A Thompson History Debating Competition! Amazing work from the Year 10 World History debaters: Taha Chalek, Marcus Lara-Camara, Ayush Situala and Marcus Young.
It was a really challenging topic - 'that the Americanisation of Australia has done more harm than good'. As the negative team these students developed a very sophisticated, conceptual argument and were outstanding representatives of STHS.
Our second Year 10 World History debating team is also to be highly commended for their efforts against Roseville College. Arguing as the affirmative team, it was a very close debate, with the adjudicator taking a long time to deliberate. Even though they were not the winners of the debate, they should be most proud of their achievements.
Well done to all those students involved - Jayme Bae, Jasmandeep Banga, Taha Chalak, Danny Dong, Labib Khan, Marcus Lara-Camara, Russell Liauw, Oscar Moon, Henry Savilla, Ayush Situala, Harry Young and Marcus Young.
