Earlier this week, Year 12 Biology attended a Biotechnology Workshop/Incursion with STEM Reactor specialist Jeanette, investigating components of HSC Biology Modules 6 Genetic Change and 7 Infectious Disease.
Students investigated:
- Candy electrophoresis, preparing gels and learning the principles of electrophoresis
- DNA electrophoresis
- Microbiology and antibiotic resistance, “measuring the zone of inhibition”
A wonderful experience for our Year 12 Biologists, learning from a Biotechnology expert and using specialist equipment.
