Why families choose us

The Accelerated Advantage

Sydney Tech has deliberately redesigned the learning journey for high potential students. Our whole-cohort acceleration program gives every student early experience of Stage 6 curriculum, expectations and scholarship, while creating additional flexibility and opportunity across their senior years.

High potential and gifted education by design

High potential education is our core business. Differentiation, extension, enrichment and acceleration are embedded across classrooms, faculties and co-curricular opportunities, with students learning alongside highly able peers in an environment of high expectations.

Opportunity and agency

Tech students have extraordinary scope to pursue their interests and create their own pathways through leadership, competition, performance, service, sport and Clubs@Tech. Student voice actively shapes what our school offers.

Expertise that inspires excellence

The strength of a school lies in the people who shape its culture and bring its educational vision to life. Our staff share a commitment to rigorous teaching, high expectations and the development of each student's intellectual and personal capabilities.

'Every individual has the right to realise himself: that is to fully develop the power and capacities, physical, mental, moral and spiritual; with which nature endowed him'.

− JA Williams, 1912 (first Principal of Sydney Technical High School)

What we can offer your child

An education that extends potential

Our academically selective environment brings together students who are ready to embrace challenge, think deeply and pursue ambitious goals. Through rigorous learning and opportunities for extension, students are encouraged to question assumptions, explore complex ideas and develop the knowledge and independence to excel.

High potential and gifted education by design

Sydney Tech’s heritage in technical education continues through a culture of scientific inquiry, problem-solving and intellectual curiosity. Students are encouraged to investigate, experiment and apply their learning, building the analytical and creative capabilities needed to engage with a changing world.

Opportunities beyond the classroom

Learning takes many forms at Sydney Tech. Students can pursue interests, discover new talents and develop their abilities through academic enrichment, STEM initiatives, creative pursuits, sport and extracurricular activities. These experiences broaden perspectives, build confidence and encourage students to make the most of their individual strengths.

Excellence grounded in character

Academic ambition goes hand in hand with personal responsibility. Guided by our motto, Manners Makyth Man, students are encouraged to act with integrity, show respect and approach challenges with humility and determination. We aim to develop not only accomplished learners, but thoughtful young men who make a positive contribution to society.

Our student success looks like:
  • participation in a range of competitions
  • success in life beyond school
  • active community members
  • growth through high potential and gifted education
  • striving for personal improvement.
