Sydney Technical High School's stories celebrate academic distinction, sporting and creative accomplishments, student-led initiatives, community engagement and the milestones that shape school life. Together, they offer a glimpse into a community where intellectual ambition is matched by curiosity, initiative and a willingness to contribute beyond the classroom.

National Mathematics Summer School

Congratulations to Andrew Huang and Arwin Silpakar from Year 11. They have been successful in their application to attend the National Mathematics Summer School (NMSS) program in January 2027 at the Australian National University in Canberra.

The NMSS is a program for the discovery and development of mathematically gifted and talented high school students from all over Australia. Participation is restricted to about 75 students who have completed Year 11 in school.

CHS Athletics Championships

Ibrahim Kassem (Year 9) won an incredible two gold medals in the discus and shot put, while Max Hwang (Year 9) claimed two silver medals in the long jump and triple jump.

It has been a long, long time since we have had students win two medals at this level, and these outstanding performances further validate Year 9’s claim as the dominant sporting year group at Sydney Tech!

Recognition in NSW Parliament – Ethan Goh, Class of 2024

One of the most memorable moments this term was seeing Ethan Goh, from the Class of 2024, formally acknowledged in the NSW Parliament’s Hansard. Premier Chris Minns, our local member, recognised Ethan’s outstanding academic achievements - First in State in Engineering Studies and an exceptional ATAR - as well being an “inspirational role model for all high school students”. This is the first time in my memory that a Sydney Tech student has been recorded in Hansard, the official record of parliamentary proceedings. It is an extraordinary honour, and one that reflects the strength of Ethan’s character, intellect, and leadership. Ethan has not only upheld the reputation of Sydney Technical High School but has elevated it at the state level. We are incredibly proud of him and look forward to following his continued success.
