Musicale – A Celebration of Student Musical Talent
We ended last term on a high with Musicale, our annual celebration of student musical talent. It was a stormy but unforgettable evening, showcasing some of the finest performances I’ve heard in my time at Tech. A heartfelt thank you to Ms Julie Ryan and the entire CAPA staff for their work behind the scenes and for nurturing the musical passions of our students. The level of talent, professionalism and stage presence was nothing short of exceptional. Congratulations to all involved!
I’d also like to extend my sincere thanks to our dedicated P&C, especially Heather Francis and Hong Dao, for their generous support of Musicale through ticket sales, raffle coordination and catering. Their efforts contributed to the warm, community atmosphere of the evening. We are also very grateful to the broader Tech community for the generous donations and continued support, your contributions helped make the event a resounding success.

Words of Wisdom from the Premier – Inspiring Mindset, Mateship, and Resilience
A particular highlight of Week 1 was welcoming the Premier of NSW, Mr Chris Minns, to our whole-school assembly. He spoke with authenticity and passion about the importance of mindset, mateship and resilience. He drew on personal reflections, including his admiration for his late father, a former public school principal. He reminded students of the profound impact teachers and schools have on shaping futures. His message resonated deeply with our boys and left a lasting impression, reinforcing the values of integrity and community that are central to our school culture.

Recognition in NSW Parliament – Ethan Goh, Class of 2024
One of the most memorable moments this term was seeing Ethan Goh, from the Class of 2024, formally acknowledged in the NSW Parliament’s Hansard. Premier Chris Minns, our local member, recognised Ethan’s outstanding academic achievements - First in State in Engineering Studies and an exceptional ATAR - as well being an “inspirational role model for all high school students”. This is the first time in my memory that a Sydney Tech student has been recorded in Hansard, the official record of parliamentary proceedings. It is an extraordinary honour, and one that reflects the strength of Ethan’s character, intellect, and leadership. Ethan has not only upheld the reputation of Sydney Technical High School but has elevated it at the state level. We are incredibly proud of him and look forward to following his continued success.
