Community involvement

Sydney Technical High School's identity has been shaped not only by its students and staff, but also by the families, alumni and community members who have sustained its traditions across generations.

Strong partnerships create opportunities to contribute to school initiatives, support student development and maintain meaningful connections between the school and the wider community. Through the Parents and Citizens Association (P&C), alumni engagement, volunteering and school events, community members can play an active role in the continued life and development of Sydney Tech.

Join our P&C

Our Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C) is made up of parents and carers, teachers and community members.

The P&C meets regularly to contribute to decision-making, developing policies and management plans as well as fundraising.

If you haven't already joined the P&C for 2026, please click here to enter your details. We are required by the P&C Federation to charge a membership fee each year, but we keep this at the low fee of $2. You can pay your $2 membership fee by bank transfer to:

Becoming a financial member of a P&C association allows you to actively participate in your school community, have a voice in decision-making, contribute to improving school facilities and programs, stay informed about school activities, and connect with other parents and carers by being able to vote on issues and hold positions within the P&C organisation; essentially giving you a direct impact on your child's educational environment.

P&C meetings

Our P&C meet once a month via Microsoft Teams. Meeting details are sent out prior to each meeting. If you would like to attend please email out P&C via sydtechparents@gmail.com.

P&C contributions to the school community

Without the P&C and students’ families support, we would not be in the position where we can still offer such a high-quality education.

The Parent and Citizens association (P&C) at Sydney Technical High School plays a crucial role in building a strong community among families and staff. By facilitating regular meetings, the P&C encourages open dialogue on important issues, allowing parents to actively participate in decision-making processes.

But unlike primary school, we do not get your son to sell raffle tickets or set up cake stalls to fundraise, partly due to the differing distances of students’ homes from the school, often large distances. Instead, we ask parents to pay a P&C levy which is used to purchase equipment for the benefit of the boys.

Over the past few years, these are a few of the resources that they have purchased:

• Textbooks urgently required to replace those we had due to new curriculum in various subjects
• New equipment required for Science
• Support of students for extra curricula activities when funding is an issue (eg. CAPA and Science camp, sports at elite level)
• Canteen equipment upgrade in the canteen
• Drama blocks for English
• Years 7-12 presentation day prizes
• Box of Books set up – new Wider Reading program for all students
• Upgraded camera equipment for Creative arts and Digital media team
• Funding for Performing Ensembles music arrangements, ties and new hire of equipment system
• Wykeham award badges for new Wykeham award program which recognises conduct, effort or achievements
• Annual Presentation Day prizes for students Years 7-8
• Professional sound and lighting for school events that are used by students to enhance learning in these areas
• Camera equipment for digital media team and use in school arts programs (combined with use of the professional sound and lighting team)
• Funds for Gifted and Talent Maths day to continue
• Welcome BBQ for Year 7 students and families
• Set up and support for The Breakfast Club
• Air conditioning in the auditorium to ensure improved conditions for assemblies and exams (eg. HSC) which are all held in the auditorium.
